Online Video Rental

The days of scanning the aisles of a video store are now over, thanks to the invention of the online video rental! But, should you rent movies online? What if you aren't technologically savvy? How does the selection compare to a "real" video store? Luckily, you have come to the right place to get all these questions answered and more!

Is the Online Video Rental Right for You?

Before you go any further, you need to ask yourself the following question: Is the online video rental right for you? Online video rentals work best for three categories of people. The first category involves those who rent many movies each month. The second category includes those people who have a tendency to return movies late. Finally, the third category is made up of those people who live in a rural area or some other area that is rather far away from a traditional video rental store.

Online video rentals are actually quite simple. First of all, you go to a website and pick out the movies you want to rent. This closely resembles online shopping and, even for the novice, is quite self-explanatory. Once you have picked your movies, they will be mailed to you in a postage-paid envelope. You are generally allowed to have three movies out at a time, but the amount can vary. When you are finished with the movies, you mail them back in a postage-paid envelope, and the next movie you desired is sent to you. Because you are allowed to rent as many movies as you want in a month and keep them as long as you want with NO late fees, and because you will be working through the Internet and postal service, it should be clear why online video rentals are perfect for the previous three categories of people.

Once you've decided to try an online video rental, there are two major companies to choose from. Netflix (www.netflix.com) and Gameznflix (www.gameznflix.com) are nearly identical in format, and both offer a free 14-day trial. However, Gameznflix is slightly cheaper than Netflix for the same service and also offers video games. My advice would be to sign up for both trials, but remember to cancel what you don't want BEFORE the end of the 14-day trial period to keep from being charged for the first month.

Happy viewing!
